CHARACTER INTERPRETATION


» Appearance: Pete's about 5'11 with dark brown hair and brown eyes. He's pretty beefy, but only because he works at it. Which is crazy considering how much he works. He considers his body a work of art. He's usually in a t-shirt and some jeans when he's at home, but he'll wear a suit if he has to. He tries to be as relaxed as possible. He layers a lot when he's out in the field. He typically spikes his hair, but he has been known to just leave it flat.

» Orientation: Straight. Pete has always identified on the show as straight. He hits on women canonically and has a girlfriend in one of the seasons. He makes eyes at almost every single and attractive woman within his vicinity. With that being said Pete does make cracks about Jinks being interested in him sexually. He seems to get upset when Jinks doesn't show interest. This is probably just Pete's vanity rearing it's ugly head though.

As sad as that sounds it's probably the most accurate and harshest description of Pete Lattimer. Pete is a giant manchild that's trapped in an aging body. He's not sure how to combat so he falls back on sarcasm and jokes. Pete often reacts to serious situations with jokes or something in a vague attempt to lighten the mood. He can be serious, but he tries not to let that dictate his every single move. He's an adult, but why would he want to act like one? Pete won't hesitate to make booby jokes or bodily function ones. He's got the mentality of a small child most of the time. When Myka speaks of Ophelia it's Pete who makes the joke "ophelia boobies" to her. He really doesn't have much of a filter when it comes to his childish humor.

Underneath that sarcastic childish exterior is a real human person though. Pete is a recovering alcoholic. This often dictates a large majority of his decisions. He tends to visibly shrink into himself and look uneasy when he's in a bar for any reason at all. This is seen in an episode in where they're in a bar talking to patrons for a case and Pete looks visibly uneasy. The bartender tells him where a close AA meeting is once he senses Pete's discomfort. Pete has a lot of guilt inside of him due to the twelve years that he spent drinking. He claimed it was a sort of drunken haze, but he remembers all his missteps very clearly. He comments that he wasn't a very good person when he was drinking. Pete's lowest point came from a DUI accident which broke both his friend's legs, but Pete walked away without a scratch.

Pete's father died when he was a boy and that's just one of the many things he carries around with him daily. Pete has gotten vibes about things since he was a boy. Bad vibes usually signify something bad is going to happen. He got bad vibes about his father going into work (as a fireman) only for his dad to die in a fire that night. Pete still carries that. Pete has trusted his vibes ever since then. He refuses to ignore them. He embraces them as apart of him now.

Pete tends to trust the people he cares about with everything inside of him. He got off the chart bad vibes when he first met HG, but he ignored them. He ignored them because Myka vouched for her and that was truly enough for Pete. He didn't need any other reason. He will do anything to protect them as well. This is seen in it's biggest form when agrees to help Paracelsus in order to get him to perform the immortalization to save Myka from her cancer. This results in him growing strong and booting all of them except for Claudia from the Warehouse.

His emotions tend to be a wild card at times. Myka fears a number of different reactions from Pete concerning the revelation that she has cancer. Mostly she's afraid he's going to go ballistic over it. This probably stems from when Pete was mentally aged down and expressed sadness over everyone leaving him. That seems to be one of Pete's biggest fears. Losing more of his family members like he lost his father. Pete's a bundle of emotions and tends to react before properly thinking something through. That's probably why he's partnered up with Myka. They seem to be each other's other halves in that respect.

By nature Pete is a bit of a womanizer. He can do relationships. Sorta. They don't seem to last though. He does very well with women though. He has this uncanny ability to woo them. He's not afraid of a full blown relationship or a one night stand. Sex is something that Pete is incredibly comfortable with. He's incredibly comfortable with his body and everything in between. Nobody loves and hates Pete more than Pete. His openness when it comes to sexuality is seen when he gets visibly excited to find out that Steve is gay. He finally has someone who will comment freely on his his muscles. Though it's probably safe to assume that Steve has absolutely zero sexual desire for Pete. That doesn't stop Pete from assuming he does. Pete thinks he's everyone's type. Men and women both. He will take his shirt off for anyone. Steve knows this.

If you betray Pete prepare to grovel. He does not take well to being lied to. He reacts very badly after HG betrays them. When Myka starts to open up and accept her again it's Pete that's openly bitter towards her after it. He eventually softens, but you have to do a lot to earn his trust back. Pete even seems a little hesitant these days towards Artie after Leena's death. He's the only one to ask how they're supposed to just be okay with him after that. He understands it wasn't him, but it's still eating away at the back of his mind.

Pete is dedicated to this job. He understands how necessary this work is. He's prepared to die if it means protecting the world. This happens when an artifact attaches itself to his spine and he's willing to die to destroy it. He also gets himself killed going after an artifact that could save the world. Pete will no doubt put himself on the line if it means protecting people.

A lot of problems in the Warehouse are started due to Pete's natural curiosity coming out. He plays with everything he sees. He touches everything. Sometimes he licks things. Pete is the true definition of curiosity killed the cat sometimes.

Pete has the tendency to act like everyone's big brother in the Warehouse. He looks after Myka, Claudia and Steve. It doesn't even really matter that all three are capable adults and probably smarter than Pete individually. Pete looks at himself as their protector. He takes great pride in needling all of them and at the same time being there when they need him. They're his family.

Hey, hey, hey.

[ Pete's not dressed completely. He stopped after he put on his pants. He's comfortable with nudity. He doesn't really care if anyone sees him. They could see something they like. He could be doing a great service. Also he's not sure where his shirt is. He'll locate it eventually, but first he wants to address this whole kidnapping issue. ]

Normally I'm completely against being kidnapped. I'm also not really into collars, but I'll roll with it. You provided snacks and for that you get mucho bonus. One quick thing though--are you sure these are gonna fit?

[ Cue Pete holding up the condoms that have been provided. He turns them over in his hand and then looks back at the camera. ]

I'm not saying I'ma giant, but little Pete isn't exactly regulation size. I just wanna make sure everything is gonna fit. We don't want an Incredible Hulk situation do we? Hulk angry. Hulk smash.

[ Pete smiles and tosses the condoms away. In the back of his mind is the Warehouse, Claudia and Myka, but he's not sure that's his biggest concern right now. His biggest concern is getting home. Things are all out of whack and they need him. ]

Pete remembers this feeling. The lapse in memory. The fogginess. Waking up naked somewhere he doesn't know. It's been a long time since he felt like this. It's kind of scary. At first he thinks the worst. He tries to recall his movements from the night before, but he's pretty sure he didn't have a drink. With everything going wrong it would have made a lot of sense. Pete isn't even sure where his breaking point is anymore. It's scary to think that maybe he's reached it. He doesn't even want to open his eyes. He's scared to see what kind of state he's in. He's scared period.

There's a slight hesitation before Pete finally manages to push himself up. He turns his head to look for a side table and hopefully a clock of some sort. He needs to figure out just how screwed he is. He needs to know how much time has slipped away from him. He needs to know how pissed Artie is going to be. He can already hear Myka's lecture on responsibility. "Hello?" Pete tilts his head in an attempt to hear a response, but no one's there. That's disheartening. "I feel so used." He pulls the blankets up higher over his chest.

For a second Pete considers pulling the blankets up over his head and just giving up on this day completely, but he needs to figure where he is. With a sigh he kicks the blankets off and rolls out. He lands on his feet and springs up to stretch his arms over his head. He doesn't bother to find pants yet or use the sheet to cover himself. The basket catches his eye and he smiles. "Ohhhh. Snacks." He wanders over and picks through it casually. It's then that he spots his pants. One article of clothing found. He's really hoping his phone is inside there. Maybe he can get a report from Myka on how it's going getting back inside the Warehouse.

After another minute he reaches up to check the sensation around his neck. "Interesting." He exhales slowly and drops his hand. He's not sure when he agreed to this, but it's new. She must've been really hot to talk Pete into something this kinky.
